Description of Bosch TDA1503UC Steam Iron with Stainless Steel SoleplateBosch TDA-1503UC Designed to generate continuous steam and take care of itself if you forget it, this full-size Bosch iron is a solid combination of handy features and safety smarts. A 1500-watt machine, the iron produces two levels of steam in both the vertical and the horizontal positions, and has a steam-jet function for stubborn wrinkles. It also has a water-spray option and dry-ironing capability. For extra safety, Bosch builds in a three-way automatic shutoff device. The iron cuts power after resting 30 seconds on its soleplate, 30 seconds on its side, or 8 minutes on its heel. Another attractive feature is the anticalc descaling system that extends the life of the appliance by breaking down mineral buildup. Structurally, the iron is built to cover ground efficiently. The 11-1/2- by 4-3/4-inch stainless steel soleplate glides smoothly and resists scratches, while the textured handle is comfortable to grip. Clearly marked with a range of fabric settings, the temperature dial is easy to set and stays where you put it. The transparent 10-ounce tank shows the water level at all times and has a sliding door over its opening. Bosch also includes indicator lights, a refill cup, and an 8-foot power cord on a swiveling ball joint. --Emily Bedard
Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bosch TDA1503UC Steam Iron with Stainless Steel SoleplateCustomer Review: Heavy Duty Steamer Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my wife who is an avid quilter. The old die-hard quilter types will swear a heavy, dry iron is the best to use. I don't know one way or the other about that, but my wife likes steam and this is her big dog. She has another iron she uses for routine pressing, but when she needs to really pour on the heat this is the iron she grabs and even after a year of use she still makes comments about how powerful it is. She has always used distilled water in it, and it still works like new.
