Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bosch Compact Plus-Hard Floor BSA-2222UC Canister Vacuum CleanerCustomer Review: Best lil vac for studio apt. w/ hard floors Summary: 5 Stars
Bottom Line: this unit is essentially the Lexus of small compact vacuums and functions beautifully on hard wood floors.
I spent months searching for the best unit for my studio apartment. I have a couple of 3x5 wool rugs and the rest hard flooring and had previously relied on a cheap and noisy Eureka broom vac. I decided it was time to invest in a better quality unit but didn't have the purse strings for a Miele yet.
Ultimately, i chose between the Electrolux Harmony and the Bosch Compact Hard Floor. I am very pleased i chose the Bosch. The vacuum bag replacements are also sold at Ebay. If you buy a few packages (5 in a pack) at once and stock up you can get the cost down to $5 -7 per package (fairly inexpensive) and i haven't had to change the bag once yet in six months (I do not use it very frequently, once every 2 weeks on avergage :0 )
The adjustable suction is very powerful (but not overpowering)even on the lowest setting and once you purchase a dusting brush (sold separately at Bosch and other websites) hard to reach dust, dirt or (dry)spills will be no match for the compact plus. The vacuum is relatively light weight, highly maneuverable, and a practically designed piece of equiptment. One minor gripe is that I do wish all the wheels had 360 rotation but it is unlikley that you can find that added convenience/ maneuverability at this price point anywhere.
I sometimes purposely leave it out on top of a dresser in hopes that my lazy buns will be more inspired to use it -if i see it is out in the open -handy to grab and put to use on the fly. In any case, the compact design eliminates storage hassles, fitting the Bosch Compact Floor vac easily into shorter cubbies and shelves rather than requiring valuable closet space.
Prices for this vacuum vary widely by retailer so be sure to look around. I used Pricegrabber and found a vendor who offered it at $230.00. I have had it for almost a year but my 5th Gen Roomba seems to get more play these days... still i couldn't live as comfortably without my Bosch which goes where my Roomba can't go! They are certainly MY little cleaning dream team!
If you are looking for one of the best possible picks for hard wood floor cleaning, waste no more time and get a Bosch Compact Hard Floor: i bet you'll be singing its praises too. My only regret is wasting money on cheapy, noisy units that break after a year or two. This is seriously the Real McCoy when it comes to hard floor vacuums, it just doesn't get much better than this at this price range.
Performance, quiet operation and well conceived design can all be favorably compared to the Miele compact unit produced by another German manufacturer and costing much more money.
Customer Review: Quiet and great on pet-hair Summary: 5 Stars
I just removed all the wall-to-wall carpet in my house and replaced it with hardwood and area rugs, so I needed a new vacuum cleaner suited for the new floors. I originally had my heart set on the Miele, but I found that the Bosch had the same features at half the price, and it's still made in Germany.
It is sooooo quiet. My cat doesn't turn into a lighting-bolt and the kids don't scream at me. I like the variable suction control. I don't need much power on the hardwood, but when I suck up pet-hair from the area-rugs, I crank it up and it does great. I have very low, dense-pile rugs. I can imagine that this wouldn't work well at all on loose or deep-pile rugs. The attachment just isn't suitable for that.
I'm taller than most women, and I really like that it has an adjustable length on the wand, so I don't end up hunch-backed like I do with most vacuums. It's very light and maneuverable. I broke a rib a few days ago, but I was able to vacuum today. I never would have been able to do that with my old upright beast. All the wheels are rubber, so it doesn't marr the hardwood.
The only thing I don't like is the price of the replacement bags. I've ordered some original Bosch bags and also a set of generic bags to compare the performance of the two. The bags can also be difficult to find locally. I've only been able to find them online.
Customer Review: The right tool for the job. Summary: 5 Stars
This vacuum cleaner is quiet, efficient, easy to carry around.
It sucks up coins even on it's lowest setting, so be careful to pick up first.
It is made for hardwood floors, and it excells at cleaning them.
It is quiet enough, that even on it's highest setting, I can still hear the phone ring.
The built in cord is 17', which sounds like a long enough cord, but really isn't.
Fortunately our house, like most others, has plenty of outlets.
It is built in Germany, so you know it is a quality product made to last.
Customer Review: LOVE this vacuum!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I reviewed vacuums for months before settling on the Bosch Compact. I have absolutely no regrets!! After owning a few uprights, which were heavy and after a while, spit out more dust than they took in, I am pleased to say that the Bosch is very light, which makes it really easy to vacuum stairs and it picks up even the slightest dust. The retractable, long cord is a great feature and having only one attachment, makes life much simpler when having to switch to it, in order to get into tight corners, or vacuum furniture. I LOVE my vacuum!!!
Customer Review: A great little sucker! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this vacuum after a year of not having had one. My chief concern was to find one that really worked to suck up all the vast amounts of dust our home in Missouri seems to accumulate. I didnt care about noise, manoeuverability etc. However, true to the good brand name, the Bosch is fabulous, sucks up everything (you can choose min to max suck power) on our hardwood and works brilliantly on rugs and our stair carpeting too. Have only owned it for a month, so too early to say for reliability yet. But so far, so good. I love it.
