Since their introduction, cordless reciprocating saws have come a long way in replicating the cutting speed and power of their corded cousins, and this 18-volt model from Bosch is no exception. Unlike competing models, this one lets the user choose between a short 3/4-inch stroke length, favored by many for plumbing and electrical applications, or a long 1-1/4-inch stroke for faster demolition cuts. While using a reciprocating saw will probably never be an easy job, the rubber boot and soft rear grip on this model help take out some of the rattle. A smooth-running, Bosch-built power train and wobble plate also add to this saw's clean performance. There's trigger-controlled variable speed from 0 to 2,300 spm and a simple push-button foot adjustment. As a finishing touch, you get a solid tool-free blade-changing system that's easy to use quickly and allows for blade inversion.
